Using skills based volunteers is not just a trend! Skills based volunteers can offer your organization a way to increase capacities throughout your organization.
This training will serve organizations just starting volunteer programs as well as a time of enrichment for those who have long standing volunteer programs.

This workshop will be facilitated by Annie Osburn. Annie Osburn serves as the nonprofit services program manager for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. She is responsible for enhancing nonprofit organizations through technical assistance and capacity building. Her areas of expertise include volunteer services, mobilizing youth, and organizational structures and strategic planning for faith based organizations.
Osburn has worked in the nonprofit sector as a department director, operations manager, education director, consultant, writer and speaker. Osburn holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from Grand Valley State University. She is a member of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Grand Rapids and the Volunteer Management Association of West Michigan.
Osburn speaks on volunteerism, organizational leadership and faith based topics at conferences and in schools. Publications include a 2011 K! Magazine article, “Raising Missional Kids”, a chapter in the 2011 book 9 Things I Didn’t Learn in College, “Creative Training for Volunteers”, a 2010 chapter in the e- book What Matters Now in Children’s Ministry: 33 Perspectives on How to Influence Children’s Faith Now, and a 2010Children’s Ministry Magazine article, “Summer Serve”.
