Strategic Leadership Series: Creating a Culture of Philanthropy

November 5, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Presented with generous support from our strategic partner:

The study UnderDeveloped: A National Study of Challenges Facing Nonprofit Fundraising reveals that many nonprofits are stuck in a vicious cycle that threatens their ability to raise the resources they need to succeed.

A joint project of CompassPoint and the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, the report found high levels of turnover and lengthy vacancies in development director positions throughout the sector. More significantly, the study reveals deeper issues that contribute to instability in the development director role, including a lack of basic fundraising systems and inadequate attention to fund development among key board and staff leaders.

Join us for a discussion with Marla Cornelius, co-author of the study and a Senior Project Director with CompassPoint, who will share highlights from the report and their implications on fundraising success.  Marla will also facilitate a discussion to explore ways in which nonprofit leaders can address the root causes of the problems the study highlights. You will talk with other participants about the issues and identify actionable next steps to shift the culture in your organization to foster system-wide and sustained engagement in fundraising.
