Laura Quist is a research coordinator for the Community Research Institute at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich. Quist joined the Johnson Center in 2015. Previously, she was the communications coordinator and research assistant for the Transition to Independence program at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
She earned her bachelor’s at Grand Valley State University in Sociology and holds a Master’s in Social Work from Wayne State University. She continues to write about the challenges faced by current and former foster youth in Michigan.
Quist is from Grand Rapids and grew up in Alger Heights. She loves spending time with friends and family, especially her two young nieces, Violet and Ivy. When she’s not working, she enjoys walking her dog, taking trips up north, and enjoying all the great food and drink Grand Rapids has to offer.
