This session will be led by Tiana Hawver and Juan Olivarez to explore and learn from each other how organizations in the sector are recruiting and retaining more Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) staff and board members.

Tiana Hawver, M.S., is the office coordinator for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy. In this role, she oversees the office space, supplies, technology, and equipment for staff and students and serves as the department’s Emergency Coordinator. Tiana also serves as chair of the center’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team. Learn more about Tiana.

Juan Olivarez, Ph.D., joined the Johnson Center in 2018 to establish a program dedicated to advancing inclusion and equity in philanthropy, both at home in West Michigan and nationwide. Juan’s work focuses on community engagement, inclusive growth, and the development of equitable talent pipelines in our field. Learn more about Juan.
