This workshop is designed to help ground you in the basics of the Form 990 — including practical and purposeful ways to leverage information from a 990 with a nonprofit, financial, or foundation lens.
Led by Julie Couturier, Mandy Sharp Eizinger, and Jeff Williams, this session will cover:
Using the Form 990 as an organizational tool and understanding the information it communicates
How 990 data can tell a story and where to find the elements of that story
The power of 990 data as a tool for the philanthropic sector

Julie Couturier, CPA, is the director of operations for the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. Julie is responsible for all financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis for the Johnson Center. Jeff Williams, M.A., M.B.A., is the director of the Community Data and Research Lab (CDRL) at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. In this role, he oversees a staff of researchers, database experts, and web developers who promote access to data and provide insights into nonprofit and philanthropic organizations and activities.
