A course covering the foundational learning that is key to serving effectively on a board
Board service can be an immensely satisfying undertaking. While passion and commitment often lead people to serve on nonprofit boards, having the technical skills to be effective is critical to helping an organization succeed.
This 3-hour session is designed for those interested in board service or looking to strengthen and refresh their knowledge and skills, as well as to help executive directors more effectively work with their boards.
Following the session, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the core functions, legal and other responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors.
- Understand governance structures and how to apply them.
- Identify common challenges and related strategies facing nonprofit boards.
