In this episode of The Business of Giving, the authors of Generation Impact: How Next Gen Donors Are Revolutionizing Giving, Sharna Goldseker and Michael Moody, discuss the impact that Generation X and millennials will have on philanthropy.
Millennials are due to inherit some $59 trillion by 2061, and it is anticipated that nearly half will go to charitable causes. The authors say there are fundamental differences in how the next generation of donors was raised, with a heightened emphasis on giving to causes.
As a result, nonprofits must expect the corollary demand by donors for deeper engagement than ever before. They want to be involved in strategy, innovation, and experimentation to achieve change.
