Kevin Peterson (he/him) joined the Johnson Center in 2015 and currently serves as senior program associate for learning services. In this role, he focuses on talent development, organizational structures, and revenue-generating strategies. Based in West Michigan, on Odawa land, he supports individuals in creative problem solving by listening, guiding, and connecting them to further resources.

Kevin earned a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in nonprofit management and leadership, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in public and nonprofit administration with an emphasis on community development and planning and minors in legal studies and urban and regional planning, from Grand Valley State University. In addition to his formal education, he is certified through BoardSource as a nonprofit board consultant.

Kevin is active in the nonprofit community and currently serves as a board member for the National Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and as a committee member for the Association of Nonprofit Specialists. Previously, he has served in a variety of roles including co-chair of the board for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Grand Rapids, committee organizer for the Alliance for Nonprofit Management’s Terry McAdam Book Award committee, and capacity-building fellow for the National Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.

Philanthropically, Kevin supports organizations focused on environmental justice, criminal justice reform, and voting rights. Outside of the Johnson Center, you will find him (quite literally) outside as he enjoys kayaking, bicycling, and spending time with his family and two dogs.

Kevin is happy to grab a coffee and talk about all things nonprofits and will always accept a challenge to a round of PowerPoint Karaoke.
