DeDe Esque is a program manager for the Institute for Foundation and Donor Learning as well as Nonprofit Services at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. Her role supports The Grantmaking School’s legacy of work to provide sector-specific training, technical assistance and consulting services to foundations, their stakeholders and the philanthropic sector.
Her work in the philanthropic sector includes serving in the roles of president and CEO, manager of operations & grantmaking, and program officer for a private foundation, as well as staff and board roles for several non-profit organizations. DeDe also served on the board of directors for an international member organization, the Women’s Funding Network. With a consultant practice that focuses on increasing the capacity of organizations and its leaders in the nonprofit, education and corporate sectors, DeDe applies her previous management experience working in the finance and retail sectors. Her toolkit includes leadership coaching, group facilitation and training and she enjoys engagements in the areas of culture change, diversity and inclusion, leadership and team development, organizational effectiveness and executive/leadership transition.
DeDe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. She is a certified leadership coach through the Hudson Institute of Coaching and is credentialed at the ACC level with the International Coach Federation.
